Noel Likes Comparison To Bill Russell

Mar 20, 2012 3:40 PM

Nerlens Noel, a 6-foot-10 shot-blocking center out of Everett, Mass., has drawn comparisons to Bill Russell and Alonzo Mourning, among others.

Noel said he most likes to be compared to Russell, who won 11 NBA championships in thirteen seasons with the Celtics.

“I like the comparison to Bill Russell,” Noel explained. “He was a great legend of the game. And he won multiple championships in Boston, and that’s where I’m from. So, that comparison means a lot to me.”

Noel has narrowed his college choices to Kentucky, Syracuse, and Georgetown and will base his decision in part on their perceived ability to prepare him for the NBA.

“I want to play for a coaching staff that I can trust and that I know will be able to develop me and prepare me for the next level,” Noel said.
